The Center for Independent Productions, Inc, (CIP) was founded in March of 1980 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in New York State.

CIP’s mission is to produce, direct, distribute and raise funds for documentary films, theater and other public events that explore social, educational, cultural and historical subjects.

CIP has functioned as the non-profit sponsor for many grants over the years, from the National Endowment for the Humanities to the Ford Foundation, as well as numerous smaller family foundations and individuals.

Pacific Street Films is the production entity of CIP and has been producing broadcast documentary films for many years. Currently, CIP is the nonprofit sponsor for the Rivertown Playhouse and for selected documentary films by other filmmakers.
